Over the last 2 decades, the city of Shenzhen in Guandong province has transformed from an ordinary village into an extraordinary metropolis and rightfully so the pride of southern China.  Shenzhen, which is not that far from Hongkong, is now the most successful Special Economic Zone and second busiest port (after Shanghai) in China.

True to its status as a rising major financial center, Shenzhen city has an impressive infrastructure, including skyscrapers of modern design, huge shopping malls, a state-of-the-art railway system, and even both Western- and locally-inspired theme parks.  Passports and visas are generally a basic part of international travel and if you are a foreign tourist, ensuring that your passport is not out of date and having the proper China visa ahead of time should lead to a better travel experience.
