The white beaches of Boracay, an island located in the province of Aklan in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines, have emerged as a world-class tourist destination.
No longer just a backpacker's secret haven, Boracay's beaches have been invariably recognized as one of the best in Asia, if not the world.
It may just be coincidence but even the name of the island - Boracay - reminds of and is suggestive of similar beach fun excitement as can be had in the more established counterparts such as Bora Bora in the South Pacific and the Cayman Islands in the Caribbean.
