Once every four years, the cream of the cream of the world's athletes converge in a city selected by the International Olympic Committee.In 2008, it is once again Asia's turn, with the Games of the XXIX Olympiad held in Beijing, China. The Beijing Olympics opening ceremonies at the Olympic ("Bird's Nest") stadium showcase the remarkable progress of modern China.

Some of the highlights include the parade of athletes from participating nations, the precision performance of 2008 drummers in a choreographed rendition, and the spectacular and breathtaking pyrotechnic displays as can be expected from the land where fireworks were invented or discovered.
