Corregidor: From wartime battlefront to top tourist site
The island of Corregidor, part of Cavite City of the Philippine province of Cavite, lies at the entrance of Manila Bay in the Philippines. Corregidor, also known as the Rock, played a major part in the defense of the Philippines in World War II.
Aside from serving as a Memorial to the gallantry of the fighting men of historic World War II battles (that involved the armies of the Philippines, the United States, and Japan in this Pacific War arena), Corregidor has transformed itself into a vibrant tourist attraction that in its own way provides current perspectives and amenities and also instills hope for a forward-looking future.
