The map of Canada saw a change in 1999 when its newest and largest Territory, Nunavut, was formed by separating it from the Northwest Territories. Among the largest communities of Nunavut are Iqaluit (the capital), Rankin inlet, Arviat, and Baker Lake.
Nunavut, which has roughly the size of Western Europe, includes most of the Arctic Archipelago and islands in Hudson Bay, James Bay, and Ungava Bay.
