The Thousand Islands (1000 Islands), a cluster of about 1800 islands which dot the St. Lawrence River (St. Lawrence Seaway) between the US and Canada, are among nature's wonderful gifts to North America.

Some of the world's most scenic waterways can be seen at the Thousand Islands, where many private island residences were built during the so-called Gilded Age.   Prominent among the opulent structures is the Boldt Castle, which has a poignant true-to-life love story as part of its history.
