Corsica: French paradise and birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte |
The French island of Corsica is among the 4 largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea, the others being Italy's Sicily and Sardinia and the island country of Cyprus. Corsica is fortunate to have been associated with arguably one of history's greatest military leaders or tacticians in Napoleon Bonaparte, who was born in this French island paradise.
Fast forward to today's internet era and one can see a vibrant Corsica, especially at around spring and in the summer. But of course, there will be those who will counter that this French paradise is a place for all seasons, as idyllic retreats in Corsica are always a special treat anytime of the year.
As a popular tourist destination, there are numerous locales to visit at Corsica, including Porto Vecchio. Porto Vecchio, which refers both to the name of the canton or commune, which are basically French terms for local political jurisdictions (eg, towns) is accessible via an airport at Frigari and is also dotted with beaches, resorts and modern amenities. At Corsica, one can have a sense of history, modernity, and tranquility and beauty all at the same time. Isn't it now a good time to visit Corsica, of if not to plan for one soon?
