Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands: America's Northwest Pacific Gems
Thanks to their location relative to the International Dateline, America's day begins somewhere in the northwestern Pacific Ocean, in particular in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. To their east and south is the Marianas Trench, the deepest part of the world's oceans.
Guam (capital: Hagana, formerly Agana) is an unicorporated US territory while the Northern Mariana Islands, including the main ones Saipan the capital, Tinian, and Rota, comprise a US commonwealth (CNMI). The Marianas played a crucial role in World War II. Nowadays, both Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are popular among tourists, especially from Pacific Rim countries.
Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands (video clips of which are shared) may be small in terms of size but offer spectacular settings for giant-sized, exciting adventures.
