Florida: Fabled land of Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth
Legend has it that Florida was discovered in the course of the Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de Leon's search for the "Fountain of Youth". The site where Ponce de Leon landed (in present day St. Augustine) is marked by the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park.
Florida has blossomed into a popular tourist destination and a favorite spot for family vacations and cruises. Various attractions or places of interest include Disney World in Orlando (where one can experience by going on a family road trip or availing of promotions such as Disney World Hotels and Packages) the Florida Keys (such as Key West and Key Largo), and topnotch beaches as in Miami, Panama City, Clearwater, Pensacola, Hollywood, and Daytona Beach among others.
Men searching for a place that is believed to confer eternal youth in the early days of America is an intriguing story in itself. If you have ever been to Florida, you will understand why even explorers of the past thought it all had to be in Florida!
