Washington DC, the capital, remains a key center of political and social life in the United States. Named after the first US President, Washington DC is bounded by 2 states (Maryland and Virginia) and just like the great cities of the world has its own river - the Potomac.
Interestingly, the basic infrastructure plan of Washington DC was designed by the French-born US Army engineer, architect, urban planner, and visionary Pierre Charles L'Enfant.
Some of the famous Washington DC attractions include the White House, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian Museum, the World Bank, and of course a slew of US government offices. Let's go and visit Washington DC!
